Τα Κρόνια ήταν μια αρχαία ελληνική γιορτή αφιερωμένη στον Κρόνο. Η γιορτή χαρακτηριζόταν από ανατροπή του κατεστημένου, δώρα και τυχερά παιχνίδια. Η πρώτη μεγάλη ανατροπή στην ιστορία της γιορτής έρχεται με τους Ρωμαίους που από τον Ιούλιο την μεταφέρουν στον  Δεκέμβριο και την λένε Saturnalia. Η ανατροπές συνεχίζονται όπως πάντα: οι σκλάβοι γίνονται ίσοι με τα αφεντικά, δώρα, μεθύσια και κακή συμπεριφορά, τυχερά παιχνίδια, στοιχεία που επιβιώνουν και στον Χριστιανισμό.

KRONIA was a festival dedicated to Kronos in ancient Greece. The festival was characterized by an overthrow of the status quo, gifts and gambling. The first major REVERSAL in the festival’s history came with the Romans who moved it from July to December and called it Saturnalia. The upheavals continued as usual: slaves were equal to their masters, gifts, drunkenness, bad behavior and gambling, were all elements that survived well into Christianity.
